During a visit to Finistère, the President of the Republic encouraged the French people to take their destiny into their own hands. On the sidelines of his commemoration of the Appel du 18-Juin on the Ile de Sein, Emmanuel Macron made a clear appeal: “Don’t give in to fear, express your choice by voting to shape the future.”
He also explained his decision to dissolve the National Assembly to concerned citizens who questioned him intensely. “The solution I have chosen is the most serious, the most grave, but also the most responsible,” said the President.
He insisted that “without dissolution, the situation would have been chaotic”, stressing that “in a democracy, we must not fear the voice of the people”.
