For several months now, the company based in Dettwiller (Bas-Rhin) has been operating in slow motion, despite having 110 employees

For the fourth time since 2012, the famous manufacturer of Caddie trolleys, which is due to be acquired by the Cochez group in 2022, was placed in receivership by the commercial division of the judicial court in Saverne (Bas-Rhin) on Tuesday 28 May. The decision was communicated to AFP by the lawyer for the social and economic committee (CSE).

The company in Dettwiller (Bas-Rhin), which has 110 employees and has been operating at a slower pace for several months, will remain under observation until 2 July, when the courts will reassess the situation, Pierre Dulmet told the press after a closed hearing lasting less than an hour. The CEO of the Cochez group, Pascal Cochez, who attended the hearing, declined to comment.

Despite a potentially profitable business, Caddie is facing a debt of almost 700,000 euros to the Urssaf, according to the CSE’s lawyer, Pierre Dulmet. He pointed to the problematic transfer of suitcase manufacturing to Damix, a Polish company, a few years ago, after Damix bought Caddie in 2018. Cochez, which took over Caddie four years later, is not responsible for this transfer, Pierre Dulmet told AFP.

Although this activity is potentially lucrative, relaunching Caddie would require significant investment, according to the CSE’s lawyer. He believes that it would be necessary to start from scratch and inject funds into the company. ‘We have one month to find sustainable solutions’, he told journalists at the hearing.
