The fatal accident occurred late on Saturday morning on the A104 motorway, near Le Pin in Seine-et-Marne
One person has died, three others are in absolute emergency and ten others are injured after a pile-up late on Saturday morning (25 May) involving ten vehicles on the A104 motorway outside Seine-et-Marne, the Meaux public prosecutor’s office told H24 MEDIA, confirming a report in Le Parisien.
The accident occurred near Villeparisis, heading towards the N2, according to the prefecture via social networks. The outer A104, which was closed for a few hours, was reopened in the late afternoon between Saint-Thibault des Vignes and Villeparisis, according to the Sytadin website.
Initial investigations indicate that a HGV driver fell asleep at the wheel of his lorry, hitting the light vehicle in front of him and causing a series of chain collisions, according to the public prosecutor’s office. The driver, who tested negative for drugs and alcohol, is in police custody for ‘manslaughter and unintentional injury by driver’.
