Escape of Mohamed Amra: a presumed accomplice, exfiltrated from Thailand, handed over to French justice

Mohamed Amra’s Escape: Suspected Accomplice Extradited from Thailand Handed Over to French Justice

A new development has emerged in the case of Mohamed Amra’s dramatic prison escape, which led to the death of two prison officers in May 2024. On Wednesday, April 9, Adonis C., 24, suspected of having aided in the deadly escape, was officially handed over to French authorities after being detained in Thailand, where he had fled.

Actively sought as part of a sprawling investigation led by a Paris-based examining magistrate, the young man was the subject of an Interpol red notice. Described by multiple sources close to the case as a close associate of drug trafficker Mohamed Amra, he had turned himself in to Thai authorities at the end of March, before being arrested at Phuket Airport and later detained in Bangkok.

Extradition Amid an Already Heavy Judicial Context

Escorted by officers from the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI), Adonis C. landed this morning at Paris Charles-de-Gaulle Airport. He was immediately taken to the Paris Judicial Court to appear before a judge.

His extradition comes amid a dense judicial landscape: around thirty individuals have been indicted in this case, including French rapper Koba LaD. Among the accused are suspected members of the armed commando that attacked the prison van at the Incarville toll booth (Eure), as well as others believed to have played roles in preparing the escape or assisting with the logistics of Amra’s flight and that of his accomplices.

Mohamed Amra, a repeat offender and figure in the drug trafficking world, was captured in Romania at the end of February 2025, after nine months on the run across Europe.
