Stéphane Plaza: sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence for domestic violence, he announces he will appeal

Stéphane Plaza Sentenced to One Year Suspended Prison Term for Domestic Violence, Appeals Decision

Partial Conviction for “Repeated Violence”

The Paris Judicial Court found Stéphane Plaza guilty of repeated domestic violence against one of his former partners. The 54-year-old TV host was sentenced to a 12-month suspended prison term, along with €8,000 in damages and €3,000 in legal fees to be paid to the plaintiff. He is also prohibited from contacting her for three years.

However, he was acquitted of the accusations made by a second former partner due to insufficient evidence.

Present at the hearing, Stéphane Plaza appeared emotional and shaken upon hearing the verdict. His lawyers immediately announced their intention to appeal, challenging the court’s decision.

A Tense Trial

During his hearing last January, Stéphane Plaza denied the allegations, insisting he had never been violent. He admitted to an incident that resulted in his ex-partner’s finger being broken, explaining that he did not control his strength.

The prosecution had initially requested an 18-month suspended sentence, a ban on contacting the plaintiffs, and a €10,000 fine, arguing that the case involved proven physical and psychological violence.

As this case damages his public image, Stéphane Plaza, once one of France’s most beloved TV personalities, must now deal with the legal and media fallout of his conviction while awaiting the outcome of his appeal.
