A folk-rock muse, she became one of the leading figures of “Swinging London” and was romantically linked to Mick Jagger, gaining entry into the inner circle of the Rolling Stones.

The late 1960s marked a dark turning point for the artist. Drawn into what she would later describe as the Stones’ “perpetual circus,” she fell into heroin addiction. The 1970s were fraught with turmoil, including a suicide attempt, the end of her relationship with Mick Jagger, the loss of custody of her son, and a period of destitution in the streets of Soho. She barely survived an overdose, and her voice, damaged by years of excess, took on a new depth.
